About the Archives
The Westleton village archives were founded and extended by members of the Fisk family. Of special value is the large collection of photographs taken by Alf Fisk from the end of the 19th century to the 1960s, recently donated by family member Cana Turner.
The present archives were established in 1986 by another family member, Frances Berry, who built up a valuable record of village life, past and present for 20 years, as well as collecting together the family archive plus contributions of material and memories from numerous people in the village. The archive team has been extended in recent years, and continues to collect items and take photographs of current village activities. The older collections are gradually being copied to disc.
The archives receive financial support from Westleton Parish Council and the Barrel Fair. They are housed in the village and administered by the Village Hall Committee on behalf of the Parish Council.
The archives are a member of the Suffolk Local History Council and its Local History Recorders Scheme.
