B1125/B1122 Junction
Westleton PC attended a meeting with SZC, Middleton PC, ESDC councillors and SCC transport officials on the 16th October to discuss the proposed extension of the B1125 to link it to the planned Sizewell Link Road. The concern is that the extension will facilitate the continued use of the B1125 as a rat-run for both SZC and other traffic and result in the loss of more oak trees. Points of note from the meeting:
It is clear that SZC has no immediate plans to consider seriously the removal of the extension of the B1125 from its plans as it is a part of the DCO. SZC does not believe the B1125 extension will create rat-running.
In the first instance, it was agreed that monitoring of traffic on the B1125 will be conducted asap (in addition to that which is already underway quarterly) & monitoring of B1125 traffic will be conducted once the B1125 has been blocked at Blythburgh. Regular monitoring of B1125 traffic will be undertaken if the SLR and the extension of the B1125 are built. If the B1125 traffic volumes increase, then further measures will be implemented to reduce B1125 traffic. This does not preclude further discussion about the need for the B1125 extension, which we will pursue.
SZC was unable to give a date for the completion of the design work - currently underway - which will determine whether the last 2 oak trees will need to be felled when the B1125/22 junction is changed to create the staggered crossing.

The future of the White Horse pub
Following a well-attended meeting on Monday 13th October, a residents' sign-up notice is now available in the Village Stores. By signing, one is registering their desire to object to any planning changes that will lead to the removal of a public bar at the White Horse, & there is an option to also register one's interest in being involved in setting up a Community Asset. A copy of the presentation given by the Parish Council can also be viewed.
