Planned road closures & management
Please find below some information on the speed restrictions & traffic management that are planned under the SZC construction process. Be aware this is being constantly updated, with access to the latest information using the link provided under 'Useful Information - Road Closures'.

Longer-term road Closures
Willow Marsh Lane, Darsham is closed until June 2026 to enable the construction of the Northern Park & Ride roundabout and site. Diversion in place via Walpole Road, A144, A12.
Reckford Road closure in Westleton has now been postponed by Essex & Suffolk Water until 2027.
Abbey Lane, Leiston is closed until January 2027 to enable the construction of the new railway line. Diversions in place via Harrow Lane, Hawthorn Road and Pretty Road.

The November 6th 2024 meeting of the SZC Northern Forum was attended by members of the Westleton Parish Council team. The presentation given at the meeting outlines the latest information and updates plus the meeting notes from our Parish Council chairman.
Details of the 8th of May 2024 SZC Northern Forum. Of special note is that the community helpline can be used to ask a question or report concerns including to report vehicles believed to be SCZ vehicles which are being driven badly, too fast, or which are using a road they shouldn’t be on (such as any vehicle over 3.5 tonnes on the B1125). Sizewell C Updates
This is a letter sent by the Parish Councils of Blythburgh, Darsham, Dunwich, Middleton, Theberton and Eastbridge, Walberswick and Westleton, and District Councillors Paul Ashton, Tom Daly, Katie Graham and Sarah Whitelock to Sizewell C (SZC), the County Council and the police to highlight concerns about traffic volumes and speeds on the B1125. This is the SZC response. We will meet with SZC on 4 March to discuss. (February 2026)
The B1122/1125 Junction update. Westleton & Middleton Parish Councils submitted a letter to Sizewell C concerning the planned junction changes & connection to the Sizewell Relief Road. The result was a meeting with SZC with both Parish Councils & Paul Ashton from East Suffolk District Council in attendance. (October 2025)

National Grid consultations
LIONLINK (formerly known as Eurolink) - Updated
This is a summary of the Westleton Parish Council views on the LionLink proposal. It was drafted for a meeting with the East Suffolk District Council who wanted to know the views of Parish Councils on the proposal in preparation for drafting its response to the LionLink consultation. February 2026
A consultation document was sent to every household potentially impacted by the proposed project during January 2026. Westleton Parish Council have written a document for parishioners giving a broad overview of the detail of the consultation documents and offering comment and recommendations for the consultation.
Further information on the proposed Lionlink has been issued as of August 2024. Please find below the newsletter that was sent to 9,000 local homes & the notification of Ground Investigation works that are starting on the 27th August 2024.

SEALINK - Updated
November 2025. The Parish Council Chairman gave a presentation to the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) Open Hearing for the Sealink Examination. This was held on Wednesday 5th November.
May 2025 - The Planning Inspectorate (PI) invited organisations and individuals to register as interested parties to allow participation in the PI Examination of the Sea Link project.
